spicy roasted pepper hummus

by Liz Gray (Craftyglutton)

This is a fiery hummus loaded with roasted jalapeno peppers.

If you aren’t into heat, then feel free to sub in a roasted mild pepper – like a bell pepper.  When turning down the heat, you may also want to cut back on the honey just a little as it is in the recipe to balance out some of the jalapenos’ heat.

Conversely if you are a spice fiend, add another jalapeno or another roasted spicy pepper of choice and consider using a little extra honey.

Spicy Roasted Pepper Hummus

  • 2 cans garbanzo beans
  • 4 tbsp tahini
  • zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 roasted jalapeno peppers (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 2 tsp fresh cilantro

Place everything in a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. Serve with veggies, pita, chips, bread, falafel, etc.

Chickpea & Pepper Dip

by Liz Gray (Craftyglutton)

This recipe is also up on sportsglutton, but since it is my creation,  I thought I would share it on craftyglutton as well.

This is sort of like hummus, but without the tahini and a little less fat (not that hummus has bad fat in it).
